JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

Mon - Thur 6 AM - 4 PM, $20.88/hr

Benefits start day one

 

General: 

The salvage position involves inspecting and processing materials from compressor core. This position is located at Plant 1.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Utilizing hand and power tools to perform disassembly tasks.
  • Following detailed work instructions and safety protocols.
  • Conducting thorough inspections of parts to identify damage or wear.
  • Sorting, labeling, and storing salvaged components appropriately.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Frequently lifting heavy components with the assistance of overhead hoists at designated stations.
  • Performing quality checks with attention to detail and completing required documentation.
  • Participating in an observational training day on the first day of employment.
  • Executing additional duties as assigned by leadership.

 

Compressor Salvage Areas:

 

  1. Small Parts: Salvaging the conrods, wrist pens, pistons, ball bearing
  2. Iron ID: Salvaging bottom covers, end covers, adapters, flanges, gears, aluminum heads, covers other than end or bottom
  3. Headcell:
    1. Salvage – Use a blaster on each part, then test the parts to ensure there are no cracks or leaks in casting. Next, the operator will go to the inspection table and check the sealing surfaces, check for damaged threads where bolts are inserted and identify bad threads for helicoil. Then the operator will determine if the part needs to go through the CNC machine for repair. If part is good, operator will install a helicoil. Then the part will need to be resurfaced with a diamond tool. Then the part will be run through a washer. Lastly, the part will be placed on a conveyor for the head assembly line.  
    2. Assembly – Assemble the head from detailed work instructions and run through auto test stand. If the head passes, stack on a pallet. Rework any rejected parts.
    3. Salvage (Legacy) – Use a blaster on each part, then test the parts to ensure there are no cracks or leaks in casting. Next, the operator will go to the inspection table and check the sealing surfaces, check for damaged threads. Install seats and valve stops. Lastly, the part will be placed on a conveyor for the head assembly line. 
    4. Assembly (Legacy) – Assemble the head from detailed work instructions and run through manual test stand. If the head passes, stack on a pallet. Rework any rejected parts.
    5. Assembly -– Assemble the head from detailed work instructions and run through auto test stand. If the head passes, stack on a pallet. Rework any rejected parts.
  1. NLB Washer: Salvaging crankshafts, gears, pistons, conrods, aluminum parts, adaptors, large bolts, and snap rings.
  2. Bake Ovens: All cast blocks, heads, and cases will be processed through the bake ovens.
  3. Case Inspection: After cases have been baked and cooled, operator will run the cases through the blaster. Next the operator will inspect the cases for damage. If bad, will send part to tool room for repair. If part is good, operator will gage and identify with repair size. Then part is placed on Levelizer cart, and which is sent for processing. 

 

Tools: 

Hand tools, gages, torque wrenches, air powered tools, air nozzle, mallet, brass hammer, grinder, CNC machine, test stands, Washers, and hydraulic press.

 

Protective Personal Equipment: 

Eye protection, steel toe boots, anti-fatigue mats, ear plugs, aprons, and anti-cut gloves. While using air nozzle or grinder, must wear either face shield or foam lined eye protection with strap.

 

Environment: 

The work environment is climate-controlled but can be noisy, with frequent heavy forklift traffic. Employees work collaboratively with others to ensure production is maintained at the required pace throughout the shift.
