JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Reliability Technician is responsible for improving equipment reliability, uptime, and overall maintenance effectiveness across the facility. This role focuses on preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, data analysis, and continuous improvement rather than primary repair execution.
The Reliability Technician partners closely with maintenance technicians, production, and engineering to identify failure trends, drive root cause solutions, and optimize asset performance.
Key Responsibilities
Reliability & Maintenance Strategy
- Develop a deep understanding of all critical equipment.
- Drives development and implementation of the MOS (maintenance operating system)
- Develop, implement, and optimize preventive (PM) and predictive (PdM) maintenance programs.
- Analyze equipment performance, downtime data, and failure trends to identify improvement opportunities.
- Drive root cause analysis (RCA) on recurring or critical equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Work with tool crib operators to ensure proper spare parts management.
Work Management & CMMS
- Own and maintain accurate asset data, PM plans, and maintenance records within the CMMS.
- Review and refine maintenance work orders for effectiveness and completeness.
- Partner with maintenance technicians to ensure proper execution and feedback on PM activities.
- Help prioritize maintenance work based on risk, criticality, and business impact.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and lead initiatives to reduce downtime, improve equipment efficiency, and lower maintenance costs.
- Collaborate with engineering on equipment upgrades, redesigns, and reliability improvements.
- Standardize best practices for maintenance procedures and documentation.
- Support Lean, TPM, or other operational excellence initiatives.
Condition Monitoring & Predictive Tools
- Utilize condition-based monitoring techniques (vibration, thermal imaging, oil analysis, etc. as applicable).
- Interpret predictive data and translate findings into actionable maintenance plans.
- Establish and improve predictive maintenance capabilities over time.
Collaboration
- Serve as a liaison between maintenance, production, and engineering teams.
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations to maintenance technicians.
- Support training and knowledge sharing related to reliability practices and failure prevention.
- Identifies and recommends training needs of the maintenance technicians.
Safety
- Promote safe work practices and ensure maintenance strategies align with safety standards.
- Support development of procedures that reduce risk during maintenance activities.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification preferred (industrial maintenance, engineering technology, mechatronics, etc.).
- SPS Training/ Red X Certification is preferred.
- 3–5+ years of experience in manufacturing maintenance, reliability, or equipment support roles.
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong understanding of industrial equipment and failure modes (mechanical, electrical, automation).
- Experience with CMMS / SAP systems and maintenance planning.
- Knowledge of reliability tools such as RCA, FMEA, and PM optimization.
- Familiarity with predictive maintenance technologies (vibration, thermography, etc.) preferred.
- Ability to analyze data and translate insights into improvement actions.
- Developed time management skills with a sense of urgency.

- Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment and support off-shift needs as required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk the production floor and access equipment areas.
- Occasional lifting (up to 30–50 lbs) and working around industrial equipment.
