JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary:

Quality Engineer responsible for supporting the OE & Modules business. Effectively manage site activities for product launches, significant product changes and manufacturing changes. Lead manufacturing and engineering teams through 8D problem solving and continuous improvement.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform all of the duties associated with those of a Quality Engineer in an assembly environment.
  • Be an active participant on the Cross Functional Business Teams; providing support and leadership for the Process Improvement projects.
  • Provide support for PBT and CoC 1.3, when requested.
  • Serve as effective team member of all OE & Modules related supplier transitions, product launches and/or manufacturing changes.   Ensure timely completion of APQP activities.
  • Set up and maintain a system to measure and monitor process capability as needed for the processes.
  • Provide support as needed to CMM Quality Technician who is responsible to write and/or revise programs as needed to measure parts on a programmable and motorized CMM.
  • Provide technical assistance for the internal Gaging system and AIAG MSA requirements.
  • Provide support in developing and monitoring Process FMEAs and control plans.
  • Drive the reduction of internal non-conformances in processes using cross functional teams and proven corrective action tools.
  • Monitor business performance to goals and initiate problem solving and corrective action, when necessary, to address gaps in performance.
  • Promote and maintain strong customer relationships, as needed.
  • Provide leadership for any Corrective Action Teams, as needed, developed to implement process changes.
  • Active involvement in and support of quality related initiatives and Advanced Quality Planning.
  • Support IATF16949 certification.
  • Communicate and support Product Safety activities and procedures with team members

Knowledge:

  • Strong analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills
  • Fully familiar with FMEA, Control Plan, PPAP, SPC, MSA – AIAG Modules
  • Working Knowledge of IATF16949 & ISO9001

Skills:

  • Self motivated, positive attitude, self reliant
  • Multi-task oriented, ability to balance multiple assignments
  • Flexible – can adapt to frequent priority changes & substantial role diversity
  • Project management, follow-up and team skills essential
  • Strong PC skills including MS Excel use, experience with database use/construction
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within department as well as with external/internal customers
  • Strong training skills

 

 

Experience:

  • 5 or more years of experience in the truck, distribution, automotive or aerospace industries in the areas of Quality and Engineering.
  • 10 or more years of quality management for those without a technical Bachelors degree.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Science/Industrial Management.  (Will consider other types of Bachelor’s degrees only with significant quality management experience +10 years)
  • ASQ certification (CQE, CQA, CQM) desired
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certification desired
  • Automotive/Truck industry experience
