JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary

The Value Stream Manager is responsible for overseeing all operational strategies within a designated value stream, with authority and accountability for safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. This individual leads cross-functional teams, including production, supply chain, maintenance, engineering, and quality, to ensure that customer expectations are met and exceeded.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Team Development:
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships to foster a positive and productive work environment.
    • Leads training and developmental programs and strategies within area of responsibility to build the talent pipeline.
    • Provide leadership and remove barriers to meet customer and financial goals.
    • Develop staffing plans and succession strategies for key roles.
    • Ensure timely performance appraisals for team members.
  2. Operational Excellence:
    • Champion Lean Manufacturing methodologies such as the Knorr Production System, Standardized Work, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and Just-In-Time (JIT) principles.
    • Manage labor utilization, equipment availability, and departmental conversion costs.
    • Establish and monitor performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
    • Ensure effective autonomous maintenance activities to prevent equipment failures.
  3. Customer and Financial Commitments:
    • Lead initiatives to ensure customer satisfaction and achieve business targets.
    • Present business results and actively participate in discussions to address issues related to on-time shipments, quality concerns, or customer satisfaction.
    • Develops strategies and projects to ensure financial commitments are met, including departmental budget accountability and responsibility.
  4. Quality and Safety:
    • Adhere to IATF 16949 quality policies, empowering team members to escalate issues related to product quality.
    • Follow ISO 14001 standards for health, safety, and environmental compliance, empowering action to address safety concerns.
    • Ensures all products and components are within customer specifications and leads cross functional teams to a resolution in situations of non-conformance.
  5. Change Management:
    • Champion innovation and continuous improvement to enhance business performance.
    • Promote the organization’s vision and change initiatives within the value stream.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred).

  Experience: 7+ years of manufacturing operations experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

  Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and familiarity with statistical evaluation tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated success in employee development, succession planning, and driving performance through metrics.
  • Greenbelt Certification (preferred but not required).

Key Competencies:

  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, lead, and develop a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, especially Standardized Work, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and JIT.
  • Project management and planning experience.
  • Ability to use data and problem-solving tools to make informed business decisions.
