Position Title: Engineering Co-op
Location: Bowling Green
FLSA: Hourly Non Exempt
Reports to: Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY:
Assist Engineers, under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, in developing, organizing, implementing and updating operational control processes and methods to optimize quality, cost, time, and effectiveness. This will include providing support for the Quality department, Maintenance department and Operations depending on the task or project requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Assists Engineers in the design and implementation of continuous improvement and capital projects.
- Provides support for all Engineering functions where needed.
- Creates, modifies, and troubleshoots control programing for PLCs, HMIs, Visual Equipment, and Databases.
- Troubleshoots operational failures and create short term solutions to remedy causes as well as long term solutions to prevent future occurrences.
- Develops methods and standards of generating usable information derived from data, as well as, techniques to collect and organize data.
- Maintains and modifies the process control equipment’s Intranet over an Ethernet network.
- Organizes existing documentation and creates documentation of current processes (including but not limited to: CADD drawings, Flow Charts, Control Programs, Network Risers, etc.)
- Provides training to Operations and Maintenance personnel including the development of Standardized Work Instructions.
- Continually seeks out improvement ideas that optimize operations, as well as, engineering procedures.
- Follows company policies and procedures including safety, quality and environmental.
- Performs other duties as required by business needs.
- Understands and adhere to current health, safety, and environmental policies (ISO14001). Is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action in regards to safety, health, and environmental concerns.
- Understands current quality policies and procedures (IATF 16949). Is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action in regards to product quality.
QUALIFICATIONS:
At least a sophomore in good standing and enrolled in an Engineering Bachelor Degree program. At least a 3.0/4.0 GPA.
