JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for performing hands-on engineering lab testing assignments associated with the following: product support, research & development. In addition to performing test assignments, the successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing results, developing conclusions based on results and making recommendations. Independently evaluates problems or opportunities, identifies solutions, and applies standard engineering analysis tools to evaluate and select solutions. The candidate will be responsible for working with minimal level of supervision, that will require proactivity skills as well others testing stands support as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Perform the tests as required by the test schedule and according to the input from the Test Engineer.
- Perform as testing protocol steps to guarantee that the testing samples are being exposed to the right inputs as well as recording all the findings before, during and after the tests.
- Support the development of tests and procedures for various projects within the laboratory.
- Define, create, and document complex tests and test set-ups.
- Support work related to development of engineering documents including design specification, DFMEA and DVP&R.
- Support the writing of technical reports to document test results and conclusions.
- Support the test request and report database using AWS.
- Support the development of work instructions and test procedures using AWS.
- Responsible for lab safety / ergonomics / housekeeping.
- Responsible for performing 5S in the working area.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of computer coding (SQL, JavaScript, Python, Prolink) is highly required.
- Knowledge of data analysis and data bank (i.e., excel, power BI) is highly required.
- Knowledge base of most tasks performed in the lab environment and requires limited guidance from engineering resources.
- Data acquisition & control, test equipment & instrumentation, test standards & procedure development.
- Knowledge for creating Wire harnesses is a plus.
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical work for lab environment is a plus.
- Good working knowledge of environmental test standards for the automotive industry is a plus.
- Troubleshoots and debugs problems of mechanical, electrical, electronic and pneumatic nature is a plus.
- Experience with intermediate machining as required to build custom test fixtures is a plus.
Experience:
- Technician 1: High School degree plus 2 years of related technical experience. No experience required with Associates degree.
- Technician 2: Associates degree in Engineering Technology plus 3 years of experience, or a high school degree plus 5 years of related technical experience.
- Technician 3: Associates degree in Engineering Technology plus 7 years of experience, or a high school degree plus 9 years of related technical experience.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude such as SAE certification or experience with hands-on vehicle maintenance, motorsports or similar is desired.
- Brake component and systems knowledge is a plus.

- Familiarity in the use of data acquisition systems and software coding is highly required.
- Technical aptitude; comfortable and skilled at working in R&D lab environment.
- Desired experience in operating typical machine shop equipment including; drill press, milling machine, lathe and welder.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills in a team environment.
Education:
- Associate degree in Engineering Technology is desirable. Without the Associate degree in Engineering Technology, a high school degree and the equivalent years (Tech 1-3) of related technical experience is required .
- Greenbelt certification is a plus
Travel:
- Expected travel up to 10%
Position Requirements:
The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Short commute to Avon office is a plus.
The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Avon, Ohio is $52,200-$97,700 per year. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry and education. Bendix is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect positions that work in other states or locations. Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, employees (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, vision, and basic life and disability insurance. Employees also will be able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive 120 hours of vacation leave and 40 hours of Personal Paid Absence every year. Employees will also enjoy 12 paid holidays, and 1 floating holiday throughout the calendar year, subject to relevant terms outlined in the employee handbook. 6 weeks of paid parental leave will also be available for use.
