Position Summary:

Interface with all Bendix CVS suppliers in the following areas: quality performance and expectations, interpretation of requirements per engineering drawings and specifications, and supplier improvement, development, and audits.  

 

Essential Functions:

  • Lead improvement & development activities with Bendix North America Suppliers (United States, Mexico, Canada, India, China, Europe).
  • Have a strong background for SMF (Stamping, Machining & Forging) and other categories as well, familiarity with production processes in manufacturing, or lean management for process improvement roles.
  • For any issue occurring with the Bowling Green plant related to suppliers, engage stakeholders and resources proactively driving the resolve the issue.
  • Supervise direct reports to ensure tasks and priority issues are tracked and resolved on time.
  • Responsibility for supplier APQP on new product/transitions (measurement standardization, quality requirements, and on-sight PPAP validation) for Bowling Green plant and other plants related to SMF, IC and other categories as well.
  • Acting as liaison between suppliers, group, and plant buyers, plant quality and engineering. Acting as mediator between suppliers and plant quality when problems arise (Dispute process).
  • Conduct audits related to approving new suppliers, supplier development, and product safety especially within NA region as well as support other regions.
  • Review Supplier PPAP’s
  • The employee has knowledge of SMF, IC and other categories, and when they notice that the product has a quality problem or defect, they lead or direct all activities required by the position to the team members, until the problem is solved and closed properly.
  • Able to conduct product audits/DMI validation audits to eliminate gaps in the supplier process, ensure a safe launch, and meet the project schedule.

 

Management & Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • This is a hands-on supervisory role requiring both team leadership and direct management of the assigned supplier category.

  • Adaptability: Being flexible and able to adjust to changes, whether in team dynamics or operational shifts.   
  • Support other Supplier Quality Supervisors across additional commodity categories as needed to meet business and organizational objectives.

 

Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of IS9000:2000 and TS16949 standards required.
  • Sound knowledge of Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) modules including PPAP, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA), Advanced Quality Planning & Control Plan (APQP).
  • Possesses working knowledge of audit methodologies i.e. process audits, walk the control plan, product audits, etc.
  • Knowledge of measurement systems, GD&T, and gauge design is highly desirable.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on manufacturing experience in stamping, machining, and/or forging processes.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of automotive tier 1 quality required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisor experience.
  • Experience in several AIAG modules required.  Prefer experience in all modules.
  • Experienced in auditing to PSA and VDA.

 

Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills and problem solving utilizing six-sigma tools and 8D principles.
  • Multi-task oriented.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including process documentation.
  • Project management, follow-up and team skills essential.
  • Strong training, coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suites including Excel, MS World, PowerPoint Etc.
  • Ability to adapt to priority changes.
  • SAP experience

 

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering/Science/Industrial Management.  (Will consider other types of bachelor’s degrees only with significant quality management experience +10 years)
  • Automotive/Truck industry experience
  • VDA certified is preferred.

 

Travel:

  • Travel requirements:  Domestic and/or Global, up to 60%

 

Position Requirements: 

  • Located at the Bowling Green plant to support supplier performance, quality concerns, and issue resolution activities.

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Avon is $105,400 to $158,200 per year. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry and education. Bendix is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect positions that work in other states or locations. Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, employees (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, vision, and basic life and disability insurance. Employees also will be able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive 120 hours of vacation leave and 40 hours of Personal Paid Absence every year. Employees will also enjoy 12 paid holidays, and 1 floating holiday throughout the calendar year, subject to relevant terms outlined in the employee handbook. 6 weeks of paid parental leave will also be available for use.
