JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary:

 

This position is responsible for leading a team of technicians and co-ops to deliver engaging, informative, and brand-aligned product demonstrations that support customer education and business objectives. The role ensures demonstrations are executed safely, effectively, and consistently while maintaining high standards of professionalism and performance. This position collaborates closely with Sales, Marketing, Sales Operations, Engineering, and other cross-functional stakeholders to align demonstration strategies with business priorities. The incumbent is responsible for developing annual plans and budgets, managing resources, and continuously improving demo effectiveness and customer experience.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Ensure a safety-first culture by conducting all demonstrations with zero tolerance for safety violations and proactively mitigating risk.
  • Develop and manage the annual demo budget, including proposal submission, leadership approval, and adherence throughout the fiscal year.
  • Partner with Sales leadership to develop and execute regional demo plans, adjusting strategies as needed based on business priorities.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop team members to ensure high performance, technical competency, and professionalism.
  • Plan and coordinate staffing by scheduling and assigning demo activities to ensure appropriate coverage across events and locations.
  • Lead execution of product demonstrations, including setup, delivery, and teardown.
  • Ensure consistent brand representation and messaging aligned with Product Marketing direction.
  • Partner with Sales Operations to define, track, and analyze demo performance metrics and effectiveness.
  • Design and deliver training programs for team members, including driving skills, diagnostics, repair techniques, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain deep product knowledge across core product lines and working knowledge of non-core products; ensure team competency.
  • Track and report performance metrics, including customer engagement and conversion outcomes.
  • Prepare and present regular updates to leadership on team performance and demo effectiveness.
  • Identify trends and opportunities to improve demonstration strategy, execution, and impact.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Legal, and Product Teams to align demo content with campaigns, launches, and business initiatives.
  • Support lead generation and customer education efforts in partnership with Sales teams.
  • Assist in developing product test plans for competitive benchmarking activities.

 

Knowledge:

 

  • Deep knowledge of core product lines, including features, benefits, and limitations.
  • Working knowledge of broader product portfolio and competitive landscape.
  • Strong understanding of the heavy truck industry, including OEMs, suppliers, distribution channels, and trade associations.
  • Knowledge of customer operations and business needs.
  • Familiarity with applicable regulations and SAE standards.
  • Practical knowledge of lab operations and testing environments.
  • Understanding of safe operation of commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailer systems.

 

Skills:

 

  • Ability to operate trailers for demonstrations and training (Valid Class A CDL)
  • Advanced driving capability, including execution of complex maneuvers to demonstrate product performance.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, including the ability to develop creative solutions.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with diagnostic tools and remote diagnostics is a plus.

 

Experience:

 

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in the trucking or commercial vehicle industry, including a valid Class A CDL.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing electronic and mechanical systems.
  • Experience presenting to and working with external customers.
  • Experience with complex product installations, preferably braking or safety systems.
  • Experience with vehicle dynamics and advanced driving techniques.
  • Prior leadership experience managing teams or programs strongly preferred.
  • Fleet or field operations experience is a plus.

 

Education:

 

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience required.
  • Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
  • SAE certifications are a plus.
