Job Title: Sr. Director Industrial Engineering and Operational Excellence
Job Location: 35500 Chester Road, Avon, OH 44011
Work Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week (M-F, 8 am to 5 pm)
Annual Salary: $266,500 per year
Job Duties: Provide strategic and functional leadership to enable Bendix to attain its business goals. Charged with driving Engineering initiatives along with Operational Excellence strategies through Continuous Improvement, Advanced Automation, Optimization, Integration, and Manufacturing Technologies to become the global leader in active safety and vehicle operation efficiency in the global Commercial Vehicle industry.
Essential Functions:
- Serves as the champion of the Knorr-Bremse Operating Model, driving best practices across the manufacturing organization
- Ensures flawless new product launch
- Drives strategic transformation Manufacturing and Logistics activities including footprint and strategic projects
- Champions LEAN journey of CVS NA
- Elevates Maintenance Operating System and maintenance maturity of Bendix to next level of performance
- Drives regional Conversion Cost Productivity aiming for 8% YoY
- Drives regional CAPEX optimization project
- Drives standardization ensuring full compliance with Global BoP / BoT
- Actively collaborates with global COO and global operations in standards enhancement
- Creates a culture of lean transformation, continuous improvement and operational excellence to increase critical Key Performance Indicators
- Partners with parent company, Knorr-Bremse, to develop and deploy global operating strategies
- Champions the digitization of operational measures through the implementation of advanced systems to monitor, report and improve Key Performance Indicators (Factory 4.0)
- Serves as program manager on large scale Engineering and/or Operational projects
- Mentors and coaches team to maximize their potential, grow within the Bendix organization, and have a positive employee experience
- Manages, guides and directs global engineering teams, responsible for Industrialization Engineering (IE), Advanced Process Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering for all product lines
- Leads engineering and technical professionals to deliver high quality, repeatable processes and automated manufacturing systems to ensure the optimal engineered solutions to meet the business production goals
- Develops transformational process/technology/automation roadmaps and engineering (process, equipment, automation, integration, and assembly knowledge) capabilities within the COE and manufacturing
- Plans and implements production process, equipment, and assembly technologies, including initial capacity planning
- Develops and implements strategy for process optimizations based on LEAN principles
- Implements large-scale process and equipment VAVE for Electronics
- Leads the creation and adherence of global teams to industrialization strategy guidelines to support program and project launches
- Leads global engineering teams, responsibility for Industrialization Engineering (IE), Advanced Process Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering for all product lines
- Conducts Systematic Layout Planning (SLP)
- Oversees contractors and service agreements, projects involving Advanced Product Engineering, line design and modification, and workplace design.
Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering. Fifteen (15) years of experience in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (or related Engineering field). Must have ten (10) years’ experience in Commercial Vehicle manufacturing and/or engineering; multi-department leadership experience providing Engineering Services and Support for complex manufacturing facilities; Greenfield start up experience; large ($5M+) project and/or program management experience; cost efficiency and reduction experience; experience developing manufacturing strategy across multiple countries to optimize cost, footprint and efficiency; assembly and machining practices experience; computer/CAD systems experience; demand/capacity planning experience; and statistical analysis experience.
Travel requirements: Up to 50% domestic and international travel.
Remote/work telecommuting: May work remote 1 – 2 days per week.
