JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Title:              Specialist 2, Regional Service

Reports To:                 Manager, Field Service & Training

Position Summary:

 

Provide technical services and training support for the Bendix product line to the Bendix/Knorr-Bremse customer base, including OEMs, independent distributors, fleets, trailer customers, and internal colleagues. This role requires advanced technical expertise.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Troubleshoot Air, Foundation Brake and Electronic Safety Systems such as Antilock Brakes, Electronic Stability Control, radar-based Collision Avoidance and tire pressure monitoring.
  • Conduct training for Bendix customers on the proper installation and maintenance of components and systems.
  • Conduct Factory Product Schools, at various locations within the assigned region.
  • Install, remove, monitor or test brake and safety system components as requested by Elyria Engineering.
  • Support Regional Account Managers by providing them and their customers with training and product support.
  • Develop training programs for new product introduction as well as on-going program maintenance.
  • Assist Regional Director and Account Managers in development of marketing strategies.

 

Knowledge:

 

  • Advanced knowledge of the operation and maintenance of commercial vehicle products such as air, foundation braking, and electronic control systems.
  • Knowledge of heavy truck industry, OEMs, suppliers, distribution channels and trade associations.
  • Strong working knowledge of organizational sales policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of customer business and how they operate. 

 

Experience:

 

  • A minimum of 5+ years of commercial vehicle system troubleshooting experience.
  • Strong experience with mechanical and electrical products related to commercial vehicles.

 

Skills:

 

  • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to uncover root causes and key drivers of product performance issues.
  • Applies creative and innovative solutions to resolve complex problems and issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills. Capable of conducting presentations to leadership and small or large groups.
  • Works independently, sets priorities, and manages time effectively to meet customer demands.
  • Demonstrates strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to prioritize workload and determine which customer requests will provide the greatest business value.
  • Proficient in the use of electronic test equipment such as Digital Volt Meter and Computer Diagnostics.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Able to perform effectively in a customer-focused, team-based matrix organization.
  • Able to perform successfully both independently and in a team environment.
  • Results-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing training and professional development.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

 

Education:

 

  • Associate degree required, preferably in Heavy Automotive Equipment Technology or a related field. A B.S. degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering is preferred.
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or similar certification in brake systems preferred.

 

Travel & Physical Requirements: 

 

  • Must be able to travel domestically 75%–80% of the time. Minimal international travel may also be required.
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle for extended hours.
  • Routinely required to lift approximately 50 lbs.
  • Must be capable of standing/sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to use computer keyboard and hand tools.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in a noisy environment.
