JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position Summary:
As a Product Owner 2, this individual is responsible for creating and maintaining a product vision and roadmap for complex products or multiple products. Collaborating with customers and stakeholders (both internal and external), this position identifies the needs and the value the product can bring to the customer and the overall Bendix product portfolio. As part one or more product development teams, this individual will be responsible for clearly articulating these needs and priority to the team members. This position is expected to represent the customer and business interests through the definition and prioritization of the product backlog that provides valuable outcomes that satisfy the larger business features and solutions.
Primarily responsible for project management, this Product Owner 2 role will not only lead the team’s contributors in prioritization and completion of tasks towards project completion, but will also hold regular reporting meetings, where status of key milestones and deliverables will be presented to senior leadership.
Essential Functions:
- Champion for the customer by collaborating with the development team to develop user stories that create value for our customers.
- Understand the wider landscape of products and programs across Bendix in order to identify and plan for dependencies with other teams
- Create, share, incorporate feedback on the Product vision and roadmap.
- Maintain a visible, transparent, clear, and data driven Product roadmap, product planning, and product backlog for new features and improvements.
- Work collaboratively with multiple product teams to align with product vision, negotiate commitments and maximize value delivery.
- Sequence and balance trade-offs among conflicting business priorities.
- Constantly pursues incremental delivery to reduce risk and increase learning opportunities through frequent, measurable delivery of value.
- Collaborate with stakeholders during sprint reviews, Metascrum events, or individually, to show the most critical aspects of a solution.
- Work with the development team and lead the Product Owner team in their ability to have ready backlog prior to each sprint.
- Foster a strong team interaction that allows people to get information on time by creating an environment where people share ideas and opinions, even when they disagree to ensure optimum solutions, activities.
- Act as customer advocate for team questions and seek out opportunities to connect the team with end users, stakeholders and customers to develop and improve their understanding and empathy of end user needs.
- Establish and maintain business cases for opportunities based on product and customer strategies.
- Own an entire complex product or products including all of their interfaces to other products and skills needed to deliver value.
- Create and continuously update business cases to guide prioritization of projects for a product or product line.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Agile and/or Scrum preferred
- Project Management methods including milestone mapping and planning, budget creation and execution & quality metric development
- Strong knowledge of Product Ownership practices such as Story mapping, Personas, Vision,
- Financials such as NPV, P&L, Cost of Delay and how to use these to prioritize work
- Understanding of major functional and cross-functional business processes and related metrics. (Engineering, Operations, Financial, Marketing, and Sales)
- Understanding and utilization of business, management and people processes needed for overall success.
- Market and product trends in the industry
- Methods to validate assumptions via experimentation
- Failure as a means to innovate
Experience:
- 3+ years’ experience negotiating tradeoffs with technical and business resources
- External and internal customer relationship building or training.
- Experience managing and prioritizing business and customer requirements via project management
- Agile/Scrum development environment experience is a plus
- Experience in the automotive or transportation industry preferred
- Prior experience leading and motivating teams
- Experience delivering product into the marketplace

Education:
- Four-year technical, marketing, business degree, or relevant experience required.
- Agile training desired

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Avon is $105,400 to $158,200 per year. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry and education. Bendix is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect positions that work in other states or locations. Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, employees (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, vision, and basic life and disability insurance. Employees also will be able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive 120 hours of vacation leave and 40 hours of Personal Paid Absence every year. Employees will also enjoy 12 paid holidays, and 1 floating holiday throughout the calendar year, subject to relevant terms outlined in the employee handbook. 6 weeks of paid parental leave will also be available for use. Requirements for these benefits will be controlled by applicable plan documents and policies. Employees working on federal contracts covered by the Federal Paid Sick Leave requirements will be notified and will receive benefits consistent and compliant with the FPSL requirements. Hired applicant will be able to purchase company stock, subject to the relevant plan documents and annual bonuses based on achievement of certain metrics of up to 4% of annual salary.
