JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

Represents Knorr-Bremse’s global IT function as the most senior IT leader in the region Americas, translating global IT strategy into regional execution. Ensures that global IT strategy, guidelines, and standards are embedded in the delivery of technology-enabled business outcomes according to the requirements of Knorr-Bremse’s business operations in the Americas region. Advises business leaders on the strategic use of emerging technologies, including AI, to improve performance and to unlock new digital revenue streams.

 

Leads the region Americas IT organization and is accountable for talent development and performance management. As a member of the Knorr-Bremse global IT leadership team plays a pivotal role in the regional organizational change management to deliver the new product-led IT operating model “Tech4Value”. Responsible for the successful implementation of managed services according to the global IT outsourcing strategy, ensuring the achievement of regional efficiency and innovation targets.

 

Essential Functions:

 

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Represent Knorr-Bremse’s global IT in the region Americas and ensure that regional business requirements are being met in accordance with global IT strategy, guidelines, and standards, particularly in Information Security.
  • Serve as the trusted IT advisor to regional executives, engaging with them on digital strategy, use of AI, technology adoption, optimizing operations, improving decision-making and developing business transformation opportunities.
  • Lead the Americas IT team in adopting “Tech4Value”, Knorr-Bremse’s global product-led IT operating model, enabling agile, business-centric and outcome-based IT delivery.
  • Drive organizational change management initiatives to enable the successful transition to managed services and outsourced operations, ensuring business continuity, adoption, and measurable value creation.
  • Oversee the IT portfolio to ensure investments deliver outcomes as defined in corresponding business cases.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure compliance with global IT policies and Information Security requirements across the Americas region.
  • Evaluation and aggregation of regional business demands and alignment with global business and IT leadership roles re. priority, resources and budgets.
  • Implementation of the global IT outsourcing strategy in the Americas region and ongoing governance including monitoring and management of the outsourced services on a regional level based on the agreed service levels; act as executive escalation point when required.
  • Ensure IT cost transparency and effective budget management by supporting IT financial planning and reporting processes.
  • Develop leadership capacity within the Americas IT team and manage employee performance, ensuring readiness for future business needs and efficient IT service delivery in close cooperation with the global IT leadership team in the existing matrix organization.

Knowledge:

 

  • Proven expertise with state-of-the-art IT platforms, infrastructure, cyber security, and managed services operations in a global enterprise.
  • Basic AI knowledge and experience implementing AI use cases in collaboration with business leaders.
  • Deep understanding of ITIL v4 practices, including service value system and guiding principles
  • Familiarity with SIAM models and tooling, including service catalogs, dashboards, and integration platforms.
  • Portfolio & project management processes, especially with agile approaches; Six Sigma certification desirable.
  • Fluent English required, other languages advantageous.

 

Experience:

 

  • 15+ years of progressive IT leadership experience in global enterprises and matrix organizations.
  • Strong track record in outsourcing strategy execution, managed services governance, and supplier management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change management initiatives with measurable impact.
  • Proven success in complex IT agile transformations, including modernization from legacy to state-of-the-art technologies.
  • Experience with AI-driven digital initiatives and product-led IT models.
  • Background in enterprise architecture, integration, and large-scale systems.
  • International exposure required — gained through leading global teams, multi-regional projects, or direct work abroad.
  • Industry experience in Rail and/or Commercial Vehicle advantageous.

 

Education:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Engineering or Business Administration required.
