JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

 

Position Summary: 

The vehicle test driver will be the responsible to operate the semi-truck during the company products test validation such as ADAS sensors, Air disc brake system, vehicle stability system and so on. The validation can be executed in different conditions, according to the test requirements, such as mileage accumulation in public roads or specific tests on closed test tracks.

 

Essential Functions: 

  • Operate semi-truck during company products validation.
  • Operate semi-truck with different types of trailers.
  • Operate semi-truck during risky maneuvers.
  • Support to define public road routes for specific vehicle product validation.
  • Maintain best use of vehicle test resources, like fuel consumption, engine usage, transmission usage, trailers, and tools.
  • Inspect and insure daily or periodical test vehicle conditions to keep best mechanical, cleanliness, safety, and emergency equipment.
  • Keep records of the vehicle test working hours, vehicle maintenance and repair periodicity.
  • Keep vehicles always ready for daily testing, including all necessary resources, like vehicle fueled, cleaned, tires on the correct conditions/pressure, valid insurance policy, compliant with legal requirements.
  • Give supportive feedback during vehicle tests about vehicle performance, observations, mechanic, and dynamic behavior
  • Operate semi-truck using up to date driver assistance systems (cruise control), stability system and anti-lock braking system
  • Collaborate as needed during products demonstrations.
  • Train other employees on how to operate a semi-truck.
  • Load trailers according tests requirement.
  • Willing to learn and operate vehicle logger systems independently
  • Keep all related vehicle test tool and equipment properly organized and controlled.

 

Knowledge: 

  • Commercial driver license with more than 10 years of experience
  • Clean driver license records
  • Be able to driver trailer fully loaded under different conditions (city, highway, racetrack, raining, off road)
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and willingness to support troubleshooting of vehicle issues
  • Knowledge and experience on commercial vehicles air brakes system and stability systems such as ABS (anti-lock braking system), ESC (electronic stability control) etc.
  • Must have good vision and hearing capability, alertness, and good driving instinct to monitor automated vehicle performance and behavior
  • Be able to operate vehicle data acquisition systems
  • Basic knowledge on computer system such as Windows

 

 

 

 

Experience: 

  • Desired 10+ years of experience as semi-truck driver.
  • Hands on mechanical, electrical, and automotive experience.
  • Experience in the heavy-duty truck and bus
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team in a dynamic working environment

 

Skills: 

  • Ability to assimilate and learn new tools and develop a cross-functional skill set.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and a proactive work ethic.
  • Support teams in planning and decision making.
  • Performs assignments with sense of urgency while keeping all the safety precautions and traffic rules.
  • Support on technical documentation during the tests, including test reports providing feedback to engineering team.

 

Travel:

Willing to travel (minimum expected).
