JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Environmental Coordinator performs daily operations related to waste water treatment, coolant recycling and management, metal chips processing and management, waste segregation activities, cardboard recycling processes, compactor operations, grease recycling and all other duties as dictated by HSE demands.

Essential Functions:

• Assist with hazardous and non-hazardous waste shipments
• Perform timely and accurate documentation of all waste tracking, required logbooks related to HSE processes (waste water, coolant, etc.) as necessary
• Keep clean and orderly the hazardous waste areas, chemical storage, waste water treatment area, evaporator area, metal recycling areas, recycling areas, and all other HSE related work areas
• Label and store all waste and chemical receptacles/containers
• Collect and deposit the contaminated water from areas of production
• Assist with maintenance and operation of eliminators, filter press, ultrafiltration system, and any other HSE related equipment as directed
• Operate the waste water treatment plant and reverse osmosis system
• Process waste metals and other materials for recycling
• Assist with emergency equipment inspections as needed
• Perform all other HSE duties as assigned
• Knows and communicates the need for product safety.
• As well performs all those activities that by the nature of the position are required.

Management & Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Job is NOT directly responsible for managing other employees (e.g., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management).   

Knowledge:

• Basic safe equipment operations
• Basic recycling methods
• Basic maintenance
• Basic material handling safety
• Basic power tool operation and safety
• Basic PPE use and applicability
• Basic chemical safety
• Ability to read, write and understand rules, policies and procedures

Experience:

• 1-2 years of experience operating industrial process equipment
• 1-2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment


Skills:

• Safe use of manual and pneumatic tools
• Ability to read, write and understand rules, policies and procedures
• Ability to identify waste for segregation
• Ability to safely operate recycling processing equipment
• Ability to work well with others and take direction
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures
• Ability to wear assigned PPE
• Ability to pass a physical examination and respirator fitness testing
• Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to perform all other duties as assigned
• Strong culture for safety behavior

Education/Certifications:

• Forklift certification
• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid drivers’ license
