JOB DESCRIPTION:

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the coordination of the automation team, including design, purchasing, assembly, and fabrication.
  • Manage crib inventory of components for projects.
  • Support the development of a business case, with technical and financial data.
  • Lead the communications with outside component suppliers.
  • Manage the Industrialization development process, through the Bendix Gate Approval process.
  • Maintain required project documents, including budgets, timelines, open actions, and risks.
  • Able to work with site managers, design leads, and assembly staff in the detailed development and implementation of the Automation Implementation Projects. 
  • Act as a subject matter expert in procurement, costs estimating, and project management.

 

Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of automotive business principles and practices to effectively manage manufacturing, demonstrating bottom-line results.
  • Knowledge of QS9000 and ISO14001 systems and requirements.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of procurement experience.
  • Project Management experience, including cost justification, accounting controls, scope definition, resource management, and track record for project completion.

  • Project Management: Proficiency in project management methodologies (such as Agile or Lean) and tools (like MS Project, Trello, or Jira) to plan, execute, and monitor project progress.
  • Technical Knowledge in Assembly Line Fabrication: In-depth understanding of robotics, automation, mechanical design, electrical design, control systems, end of line tester systems and fabrication processes to oversee the team’s activities effectively.
  • Continuous Improvement and Quality Management: Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to continuously improve processes, reduce waste, and ensure quality.
  • Data Analysis: Ability to analyze data from lessons learned, performance metrics, and process results to drive improvements.
  • Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality standards relevant to the equipment being fabricated and installed, especially for cross-border operations.
  • Bilingual Proficiency: Fluent in both English and Spanish to communicate effectively with the team and stakeholders across sites in Mexico and the USA.
  • Technical Writing and Documentation: Understanding the importance of clear documentation and the ability to review and approve technical documents, manuals, and reports.
  • Design and Engineering Software: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD), electrical design tools, and PLC programming for collaboration with designers and controls engineers.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related degree is required.
