JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary:

 

Supervises engineering staff to ensure the objectives are met and work processes are continuously improved. Assigns and prioritizes work, reviews progress and evaluates results in conjunction with Corporate Engineering Managers, Product Owners or Engineering Supervisors. Lead engineering projects and assist in problem solving activities. Validate with Engineering Supervisors engineering processes, procedures, methods, and standards. Mentors supervisors, engineers and other technical staff.

 

Essential Functions:

· Leads teams in achieving business unit goals and objectives.

· Assigns and prioritizes work in conjunction with Corporate Engineering staff.

· Conducts performance reviews, interviews and makes hiring selection/recommendations.

· Designs, validates and implements policies and procedures in engineering discipline.

· Assists in developing engineering standards.

· Monitors KPI’s.

· Mentors and provides work direction.

· Addresses any employee issues.

Knowledge:

 

· Knowledgeable in engineering concepts/fundamentals, practices, and procedures.

· Knowledgeable in engineering design processes throughout product life cycle (concept, development, in production support, end of life)

· Strong Electrical and Control Systems background.

· Mechanical background strongly preferred.

· Automotive and or commercial vehicle mechanical design, hardware, embedded software, and/or control systems knowledge.

· Familiar with system level design, incorporating both electrical and mechanical components.

· Vehicle simulation tools including both non-real time and Hardware In the Loop (HIL) simulation.

 

 

Experience:

 

· 10 years minimum of related experience; automotive environment strongly preferred.

· 5 years minimum of leading testing teams. Experience defining/approving DVP&R/Test Plans.

· Experience in one or more communication networks (CAN, J1939, J1587, ISO 14229, J2497, LIN a plus).

· Experience in Agile / SCRUM framework.

· Experience in using Vector CANalyzer, CANape, CANoe tools is a strongly desired.

· Experience with dSpace, XPC Target, ETAS or other simulation interface hardware is strongly desired.

· Highly skilled in project tracking.

· Excellent organization skills with a capability to prioritize time and resources to achieve the completion of tasks / goals.

· Drives critical milestones on assigned projects

· Excellent problem-solving skills.

· Strong oral, and written communication skills and a positive/proactive work ethic.

· Must possess a strong set of interpersonal skills to ensure success in a cross-functional, team environment developing solutions through collaboration.

· Self-starter and driver.

· Ability to influence others in positive ways and work under conditions of changing priorities and work assignments.

· Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills

· Capable of keeping others informed of activities and motivated.

· IATF norm knowledge. Auditor certificate strongly preferred.

· Hands-on: willing to work on mechanical issues, wiring issues, and software issues

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office products – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project

· Familiarity in the use of Matlab/Simulink.

· Familiarity with C-programming for embedded systems preferred.

· Vehicle dynamics knowledge and familiar with vehicle simulations such as TruckSim and CarSim is a strong plus.

 

 

.Education:

· Bachelor’s Degree in electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering required

· Experience working on complex projects with several team members

· Experience Supervising Engineers in Automotive Control Systems.

· Agile training and certification strongly preferred.
