JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position Summary:
Product engineer owns engineering product responsibility for a specific product/ family of products.
Effectively manage engineering activities (e.g. product validation, DFMEA updates, drawing approvals, specification updates) for product changes associated to customer requests and or design optimizations.
Product Engineers are considered the experts for one or more products providing technical support to customers, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
Essential Functions:
This position works closely with Test and Design Engineers to generate and or update product documentation (e.g. standards, DVP, drawings), perform and conduct product testing validation, and collaborate in cross-functional teams to achieve the technical and business objectives.
Coordinate work with Quality Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, suppliers and customers as necessary.
Collaborate with Design Engineers to plan and generate necessary changes to product’s drawings and models.
Collaborate with Test and Corporate Engineers to develop validation plan for product design changes.
Collaborate with manufacturing teams (quality and assembly) in order to develop processes in compliance with product specification requirements as necessary.
Elaborate testing procedures for parts to be analyzed.
Provide conclusions and recommendations based on testing reports.
Responsible for supplier’s PPAP’s evaluation and approval.
DFMEA owner/responsible.
Lead product safety activities and procedures for the products under his/her responsibility and follow up on action items with team members.

Proficient in GD&T

CAD and FEA knowledge is a strong plus

Pneumatic valves, Mechatronics, and Solenoid design knowledge is strongly preferred.

Familiarity with Six Sigma processes and statistics is strongly preferred.

SAP knowledge is a plus.
Experience:
-
Engineer 2: 2+ years of experience plus bachelor’s degree
-
Engineer 3: 6+ years related experience with bachelor’s degree or 5+ years related experience with master’s degree
-
Minimum 3 years of experience in engineering, with 3 or more years of automotive or similar industry experience
-
At least 3 years of experience in product responsibility
-
Strong product design experience
-
High level of experience in DFMEA’s and PFMEA’s
-
Experience providing technical support to final customers
-
Lead in cost reduction projects
-
Experience in statistical analysis (E.g. DOE, CPk)
-
Experience working closely with casting and machining processes

Experience in design and manufacturing reviews
