JOB DESCRIPTION:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The plant controller position functions as a business partner with plant and financial management to effectively manage and control the local business. Leads the financial staff at the plant and is accountable for plant-level responsibilities including general accounting, payables, billing, cost accounting, business analysis, financial reporting, and computer operations. Will also liaison with corporate financial staff, as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Prepares budget including business plan, headcount, burden rates, cost reductions, and presents it to appropriate leadership.
- Defines, implements and maintains internal control processes.
- Leads Cost Deployment Activities throughout the facility.
- Communicates the monthly plant results to management including performance comparisons to plan and forecast
- Participates as integral part of the plant management team through leadership meetings, planning, communication meetings, analysis of plant metrics and trends, plant reporting, physical inventory and plant safety initiatives.
- Provides financial leadership for future plant initiatives which may include: new product introductions or other growth initiatives, productivity projects, make vs. buy analysis, and capital investment decisions.
- Leads the local finance team and ensures their training and development.
- Prepares monthly reports of results, monthly forecasts, annual operating plan, and strategic planning.
- Submits all financial transactions, transmissions, and reporting on a timely and accurate basis.
- Ensures costing accurately reflect production operations.
- Attends daily plant shop floor management meetings.
- Analyze internal controls to ensure assets are adequately safeguarded and results are accurately reported.
- Assures adherence to IFRS Accounting Policies. Resolves questions of IFRS and internal controls with corporate financial management.
- Supports year end and tax audits.
- Assists in the completion of special projects.
- Understands and adhere to current health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Understands and adhere to current quality and control policies.
- Ensures compliance with all Product Safety Procedure requirements; fully understands and ensures compliance with Product Safety Escalation Process.
- Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor degree in Accounting/Finance or related discipline required. Master Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration preferred.
5 + Years of related Accounting/Finance experience required.
Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills
Ability to work across boundaries with parent companies for completion of work and projects
Provide effective leadership with innovative and proactive management techniques.
Ability to meet tight, multiple deadlines and handle various projects and tasks.
Strong systems and data management skills required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
SAP experience preferred.
