Position Summary:


Manage assigned category to meet the daily tactical objectives and strategy execution to satisfy the needs of our internal and external customers. Mainly responsible for tracking and resolving all daily activities that come up within each category and drive resolution across all functions. Duties performed under close supervision.


Essential Functions:


  • Support the plants with expediting open purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of all commodities
  • Ensure prices are accurate and up to date in the system at all times
  • Support SCE in developing a supplier stocking strategy and reduce lead times
  • Assist Strategic Sourcing Buyers with day-to-day execution of projects and responsibilities
  • Support DMI reviews with Suppliers, Engineers and Quality
  • Ensure timely resolution of payment and pricing discrepancies and corrective action to prevent recurrence
  • Support supplier transition projects and new product introductions, including identification of new suppliers
  • Support global change management process to ensure time-lines are met
  • Work with Strategic Sourcing Buyers and Plant Planners; providing information and solving problems
  • Assist in maintaining data integrity in all purchasing files




  • Familiar with and applies concepts, practices and procedures of supply base management methodologies
  • Understands concepts of production control, material planning, and MRP
  • General knowledge of acquisition regulations
  • Possesses basic knowledge regarding the legal requirements associated with purchasing goods and services both domestic and international
  • Familiar with product/markets and processes
  • General understanding of business marketing and sales needs and have the ability/vision to combine and implement into the supply chain



  • 1-3 years of previous experience as a Buyer or purchasing co-op within a manufacturing-based industry preferred
  • Prior experience in global purchasing organization with usage of SAP preferred
  • Must have demonstrated experience and ability to gain proven results
  • Experience utilizing multiple approaches to achieve cost reduction including negotiation, design changes, joint supplier programs, etc.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Business, Supply Chain Management or Engineering degree preferred
  • Co-op/Intern experience a plus
