The primary responsibility of this position is to test samples of heat treated components for laboratory analysis; will make decisions on the microstructure of lab samples for release to production.  Incumbent will work under minimal supervision. Responsibilities cited below are considered essential job functions:       
• Adhere to established safety procedures and 5 “ S ” standards (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain the cycle) required to perform daily duties in this position, including the proper techniques used in lifting/moving of parts
• Follows all laboratory sample preparation procedures needed to qualify production releases.  Samples and qualifies purchased parts and incoming steels prior to release to manufacturing
• Maintain accurate recordkeeping for the traceability of all samples for future reference
• Will be required to use various acids, compounds, and other chemicals and the understanding of safe use is required at all times
• Calibrate all laboratory equipment and tests the shot media on a regular basis
• Process bar code labels as required by the Assembly department, thus maintaining traceability for the life of the product
• Other duties as assigned; required being very flexible in their daily job  
  assignments as the incumbent will work 10.5 hour shifts with a strong desire to        
  work additional hours as needed

• Ability to stand, stoop, bend, walk, reach frequently throughout the workday
• Ability to lift items up to 30 lbs without assistance
• Analytical, problem solving skills

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: 

General shop and machine tool noise, dirt, grease from the operation of machine and equipment. Normal working position is standing or walking through out the plant. Some repetitive lifting/moving is required, depending on the daily assignment or tasks being performed. The weight can range anywhere from 1 to 30 lbs in which proper lifting/moving techniques are required. Exposure to hazardous chemicals occur on a frequent basis; emergency situations may arise i.e. mixing chemical spill, that will require quick thinking and positive actions in this department.  


EDUCATION & MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
Two years in a chemistry or metallurgical lab role preferred; One year in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated ability to interpret and comprehend plans. High School Diploma or GED required.
